Fundraising Rules
1. Make-A-Wish does not allow the use of door-to-door solicitation or telephone solicitation in any way.

2.Please use care when using the Make-A-Wish name and logo. Note that “Make-A-Wish” is spelled with a capital “A” and with the use of hyphens (not “Make a Wish”). Also, please do not alter our “swirl and star” logo by customizing it to your specific event (e.g., do not change the logo to read “Make-A-Cake” if you are conducting a cake walk). If you would like our logo to add to letters, flyers, etc., please contact your Make-A-Wish office to receive the official logo by email or mail. Taking care of these matters will help us protect our brand!

3. We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Please do not refer to the children we serve as “terminally ill” or “dying,” as these labels instill a sense of defeat and can be counterproductive as our wish kids fight to overcome their illnesses. Our organization exists to serve these special kids and their families and we are always careful to use language which is sensitive to them. The majority of the children we serve are survivors– we believe their wish had a positive impact on their well-being!

4. Please keep careful track of the money you raise and send the money directly to your local Make-A-Wish chapter office within one month or 30 days after the end of your fundraiser.

5. If you are going to advertise your fundraising event outside of the school community, please coordinate this with your local Make-A-Wish chapter office! We will be happy to place your event on our website if the event is open to the public. There is a box to check off on the Activity Form giving us permission to do so.

6. Consult your local Make-A-Wish representative before contacting a company or organization to solicit sponsorships, auction items, or other donations. We may have a local contact for you!

7. Please do not solicit prizes or requests of celebrities unless you are personally affiliated with the star. As a wish-granting organization, we need to make sure that celebrities are available to our wish kids first and foremost. We would not want a wish kid denied because the celebrity already supported Make-A-Wish through another event.

8. Please make sure you are in compliance with your school’s fundraising rules.

9.Keep the FUN in fundraising!
